Georgia Refining Entertainment Tax Incentives

The Georgia Department of Economic Development has given public notice that it plans to officially adopt a new chapter (159-1-1), under the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act, entitled “Film Tax Credit”, which shall provide guidance, definition and general clarification and refinement to the code section concerning the motion picture industry in Georgia. Georgia House Bill 1100 Nearing Passage?

House Bill 1100 [click here to download PDF] has passed unanimously out of the Finance Committee and will go before the state senate sometime next week. Georgia’s motion picture industry professionals are waiting to see if the senate will pass this new, more aggressive tax incentive measure (meant to revive the state’s moribund feature film and television industry) before the session runs out. Film-GA.com is working to determine how early the state might expect production companies to begin revisiting Georgia, should the bill be approved. We’ll also provide a look into the state of Georgia’s film industry infrastructure more than half a decade since Louisiana fired the first shot in mega-incentives for film production. Stay tuned!
